Community Service Officer
Banning Community
Services Officers (C.S.O.'s) are uniformed civilian employees with P.O.S.T PC
832 certificates, that assist police officers with various non-hazardous duties.
C.S.O.'s work a variety of assignments and are trained to take police reports
including, missing persons, runaway juvenile and non injury traffic collisions.
C.S.O.'s are trained in statutes involving the California Penal Code and the
California Vehicle Code. C.S.O.'s are also trained as relief 9-1-1 Dispatchers
and assist in the Property and Evidence Bureau when needed.
