The City of Banning Police Department's Detective Bureau is composed of three Detectives and one Sergeant who are assigned to follow-up and investigate reports, arrests, and tips, which begin with uniformed officers.

The Detectives that are assigned to the Detective Bureau work a variety of assignments: case review and preparation, criminal investigations, and crime scene analysis. Detectives respond and investigate crimes during normal business and after hours. Crimes are investigated in the Detective Bureau and are categorized by crime type which includes property crimes, crimes against persons, sexual assaults, and miscellaneous crimes.
